Worship
Sunday morning worship is our central act as a
community. Using the Holy Eucharist liturgy from the Book of Common Prayer (1972), we hear
God's word in Scripture; reflect on the teaching and exhortation of the sermon;
praise God in word and music; pray for forgiveness, healing, and grace; and
share in communion. We invite you to draw closer to God
in worship with us!
There is a weekday Holy Eucharist on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 AM, and there
are special services on holy days such as Ash Wednesday, the days in Holy Week
leading up to Easter, Ascension Day, Pentecost, All Saints, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. On the Sunday
before Labor Day, we worship in the park -- usually Stow Grove. Several times
a year, we celebrate our love for Jesus by joining together in special Prayer
and Praise evening worship services.
The 8:00 AM Sunday service is a quiet, intimate time of worship,
held in the Harvey Chapel, with no music, except organ on the third Sunday of the month. On first Sundays of the month, we
use Rite I; on the other Sundays, Rite II.
At the 10:30 service, we use Holy Eucharist Rite II every Sunday. Our music is both
traditional, with organ, choir, and hymnal; and contemporary,
with the energetic Joyful Noise praise band. We use both kinds
of music every Sunday. It's OK to pray quietly at Christ the King; it's also
OK to raise your hands and your voice in praise! Our Music Director is
(967-9945).
Sunday morning child care is provided in the nursery; young children participate in part of the Sunday worship. During part of the Sunday worship, children in grades K-4 participate in a separate Childrens' Churchtime program, which may include a Bible Story, snack, games, or other activities, based on a published curriculum.
